When we were young it was the rule
To spend the day at Mermaids Pool.
You climbed the stream to the top of the slide
Sat on a sack and had a great ride.
The sun was hot, the water so cool
As you ended with a splash in the rippling pool.
A picnic lunch, an ice cold beer
Under a sky so beautifully clear
A slow drive home in the evening air
The company marvellous, you hadn't a care
A crowded car, a stolen kiss -
The end of a day of perfect bliss.
